It is very important that the program you are trying to update is not running when you do an update. If it is, the update will fail at the program may not run.
- Run the program, go to File > Backup and click on the test button. If you get the message "Files are closed, OK to proceed" then you can start teh update process. If not, some one in your organisation is still using teh program and teh update will fail. Important: Do not update until you get the "Files are closed" message.
- To find where the program to update is located, Right Click on the program's icon on your desktop,
- select Properties and write down the location in Start In, then click cancel
- Go to the Download Update page of this site
- Click on the Update file for the version of your program. The file is protected by a password. Your password only works with the correct update file.
- When requested what action to take, select Save the file and save it to your desktop
- Once the file is downloaded, there will be a new Setup icon on your desktop.
- Double-click on the Setup icon. to run the update and follow the instructions
- When requested for a location, select the location you wrote down earlier
- Your password will be required during the install.
- You can now delete the Setup icon from your desktop.
- When you start your program it will first re-build its indexes, this will only take a short while. During that time you must be the only one using the program
- If Windows ask you to re-start, then the install most likely failed, you do not need to re-start, but you need to try installing the update again
